This past summer was rough for me. Not just the normal summer struggles, but I spent a couple weeks in the hospital and the remainder of the summer recuperating. Just when I thought I was as good as new, I over did it and ended up back in my doctor’s office.
It started out as a migraine. You know, a migraine that lasted 3 and a half weeks. I’m still on a ton of medication and struggling with regular (more mild) headaches, but they never pinpointed the exact problem, nor do they know if it will happen again.
I don’t need suggestions, I need Jesus.
Trusting Jesus When We Cannot See
When I was in the hospital, they did multiple MRI’s. If you have never had one of these done, they put you in a long, skinny tube. For someone with claustrophobia (like myself) this is a living nightmare. Thankfully, they also now give you headphones and you can request the type of music you want to listen to. I requested praise and worship and Jesus got me through that situation with a little bit of prayer and a whole lot of praise.
I don’t know what caused my migraine, but I do know that Jesus saw me through it.
While I still suffer from minor headaches, I trust that Jesus has the situation under control.
I can trust that no matter what I face, Jesus is the answer.
Praying for Jesus
Back in March I was at a women’s event where Beth Moore was speaking. She said the number one question she gets asked is how she has so much energy. Her answer was simple: she prays for it.
I don’t know why that popped into my head today, but it did, and I’m thankful because I know that’s what I need to do. Today’s one of the days when my minor headache is a little bit worse (read bordering a migraine). What I need to do is pray for healing, strength, and energy. And not just today, but every day. I need to pray for God’s protection each morning, and then say a prayer for strength and energy in the afternoon.
But all my prayers have to be rooted in Jesus. I need Jesus to be my strength.I need Jesus to be my strength. Can you relate? Click To Tweet
I need to trust God to be my strength and my peace. Whether I’m in pain or pain-free, God is still good. He is still on His throne and I can still praise Him.
I’m not the only one with problems. Whether they are health problems, financial circumstances, or emotional distress, we all struggle with something.
I can trust that God is bigger than my circumstances.
And He’s bigger than yours, too.
What Are You Praying For?
I don’t know what you’re facing today, but I know God is bigger. Whether you are that sleep-deprived mom, or struggling with something else, let me encourage you, God’s got this.
He can be your rock and your refuge. And I definitely need both right now. God never called us to go it alone. He called us to bring our troubles to Jesus.
What do you need God to do in your life right now? Where do you need to trust Him? We’d love to hear from you in the comments below.
Jesus Is The Answer
On a side note, long after I started writing this post, I got a free review copy of Jeremy Camp’s new CD, The Answer. I love it when God line’s things up like this. I’m listening to the feature song, The Answer, as I write this.
