It was a couple of years ago on Christmas eve… I felt a sense of panic rising within. Christmas was tomorrow, and mentally, I wasn’t even ready for Thanksgiving.
The holiday season had come and gone, and I felt like I was grasping at straws. Yes, the presents were wrapped and everything was physically ready, but emotionally? My heart wasn’t in it.
And I hated that feeling.
Christmas has always been one of my favorite holidays. I love the music and the moments. The lights and the smells that linger in the air. But that year it all seemed to get lost in the hustle and bustle.
Have you ever felt that way?
As we prepare for another holiday season, I look back with resolve. I don’t want to find myself there again. I don’t want to miss all the joy of this season.
This is the season that we celebrate the birth of our Savior. That’s something worth celebrating.
However, life is hard. And I have already found myself there once again.
Thanksgiving is next week, and I’m not ready.
My migraines have knocked me off my feet once again, and I have missed so much. Why is it that life seems to go so much faster as we grow older?
My kids can’t wait for Thanksgiving break, but I can’t believe that it’s already here. Where has the time gone?
I look at my children who are growing up so fast, and wish I could freeze time, or at least slow it down.
But I know that I can’t.
I’m stuck watching it fly by and trying to enjoy the moments.
Because that’s all we really have.
