Is your life ever less than perfect? Mine is, and I’m not alone. I’ve gathered some posts from around the web, all written by today’s Christian women, and all about candid moments.
My desk is a mess. I barely have room to get to my keyboard and mouse. It’s ridiculous. Seriously. It’s been this way for over a week, and I keep saying I am going to clean it, but then I get busy doing the next thing and the mess remains. It might be growing, but it’s so messy I can’t tell.
Do you ever have that happen?
Maybe your issue isn’t a messy desk, but you have something on your to-do list that keeps getting pushed back in favor of more pressing (or enjoyable) tasks. It seems like I always have something on the back burner. Something niggling in the back of my mind that I really need to do, but don’t really have the time. Cleaning, paper work, emails, errands… the list is endless. It’s not that I want to procrastinate, it’s just that there is so much to do.
Every time I feel like I’m getting stuff done, something happens that sets me back again.
That’s where I was today. And then, in the middle of my upheaval, I got a text from a sweet woman who could never have known just how timely her words were. She wrote, “I can imagine that things are hectic right now, but my prayer for you is that you would be filled with peace so that you could enjoy the process, not just go through it.” Those words changed my entire day.
To be honest, my day has been full of comments that were full of a truth I already knew, but twisted just enough to dig into my heart. A blog post about praying five simple words. The text from my friend. Something in my pastor’s sermon that I was listening to while running errands. Candid moments when real life happens are the norm, but today God has shown up in a mighty way just to remind me that no matter how crazy life gets, He remains the same.
It doesn’t matter how messy my desk is, or how many things there are on my to-do list, God is still in control. When my accomplishments don’t match my expectations, I am still handcrafted by God to bring Him glory. When I let others down, or make a mistake, God still loves me the same.
I don’t know if you needed that reminder today, but apparently I did. And the best part is that knowing that truth, I truly can have peace to enjoy the process. No matter what I am going through, I can rest in God’s arms, trust His plan, and just enjoy the moment. I can rejoice in all things because God is good.
So, wherever today finds you, I pray that you can have peace to enjoy the process.
Candid Moments Round Up
I wrote this post back in November when I was crazy busy and realized I was neglecting my quiet time. Let’s be honest, as Christians we hate to admit that we don’t take time for Jesus, but it’s something many of us struggle with. I share more in this post.
Candid Gal, Jaime Hampton continues that theme in her post, 5 Lessons From the Tightrope: Finding Your Balance. When we get busy, we search for balance. I love Jaime’s insight on how to achieve it, but also her openness about her own struggle to find balance.
Elizabeth over at What Mama Knows is developing a love/hate relationship with Pinterest (can anyone else relate?). In this post, she candidly shares about how her life isn’t always Pinterest perfect, and why she’s okay with that.
Holly Haynes over at Blessed Transgressions wrote an open letter to those who have hurt her, you can’t get much more candid than that. I loved her honesty about not just the pain they caused, but how it helped her grow.
Marylynn poured out her heart in this post about regret. We’ve all made mistakes. We all have regrets. Marylynn’s words will resonate in your soul, and remind you of God’s amazing grace. I’ll be honest, this is one of my favorites. Very profound.
If you need a good laugh, check out this candid moment Niki Hardy shared on Alisa Nicaud’s blog, Flourishing Today.
